INTEGRITY MONTH: DAY 1: “I don’t know how I got to that thing of not caring what other people think, but it’s a good thing. The thing is you fall in love with ideas and it’s like falling in love with a girl. It could be a girl you wouldn’t want to take home to your parents, but you don’t care what anybody else thinks. You’re in love and it’s beautiful and you stay true to those things.”― David Lynch

All the quotes this month are new ones. I dove deeply for them. It is a challenge to get new material to work with each month. This one made me laugh when I first read it and then again this morning.

What a great way to look at integrity! Because honesty folds into integrity so well, this is a great transitional piece. Perfect!

We are so enamored of having other’s approval that it can and does cripple us emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Living life through the lens of what others may or may not think of us is exhausting! And we walk away from so many things that could have made us happy! Truth is truth and integrity in living is how we walk what we know to be true.

I don’t know your life or what you are supposed to do with it. If you are not sitting with your heart-space at least once a day, you are not living in your highest truth. We cannot do that without a solid meditation practice. We may consult oracles, horoscopes, read runes or tarot, but the only truth of how we are supposed to walk in life is found within. Silence and long-term meditation will guide you when there is nothing else because there IS nothing else but the truth inside your heart. You cannot figure this shit out with the mind.

I am a therapist and counselor with long-term recovery from addictions and personal trauma. My writing reflects these experiences and the road I have traveled in 12-Step recovery settings, along with the work I have done for over 30 years in the field. My love of dolphins includes the stories of them being healers in places all over the world. I long to offer every broken spirit and body the experience of a healing hug. May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
