I believe this is our greatest struggle…not knowing. We don’t know, for sure, in our minds, that there is anything like a God in the Universe. We don’t know. And it drives us crazy because we want certainty, science, guarantees, proof…all of that.
It is the basis for war, greed, gluttony of all kinds, self-destruction and all forms of destruction. We could not, nor would we, spend our lives chasing money and renown if we truly “knew” that there was a spiritual world we were part of. We would not spend our lives working ourselves to death and acquiring homes, cars, money, etc. if we had absolute wisdom that we were not here to do any of that shit.
We would not destroy our planet with the uncaring greed that justifies taking more than our share of all that we see, to satisfy unquenchable thirst for “security” because we would know that to be the lie it is. There is no such thing as safety or security in this realm. We don’t need it here; that is the biggest lie we tell ourselves.
We cannot be “safe” or “secure.” We are not meant to be. We are here to live in a spiritual way, which is always sitting on the edge of not knowing…anything.
Any facts, figures or information we may have crammed into our minds is subject to being outdated, outworn and insignificant in the face of the mystery that is Spirit. Why would we need to know how many gallons of water are in an ocean, instead of destroying that beautiful body of water with plastics, and killing off all the fish and sea creatures to satisfy our need for shark fin soup or some other stupid and wasteful luxury, just to show that we can?
What is the purpose of knowing how to create chemicals to kill things we are here to learn to live with? What is the wisdom of polluting this Eden? Isn’t that the whole point of the story of Adam and Eve? That we continue eating the fucking apple and the snake is Ego…telling us to do what the hell we want, because we are given free will?
Maturity would say, “have faith, because you are spirit. Listen to the heartbeat of the Universe and realize you have nothing to gain. All the money in the Universe cannot give you certainty or guarantees or a clear conscience when you face your Creator and the only question you must answer is ‘why did you act like that?’”
