LOVE MONTH: DAY 2: “When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.” ― Fred Rogers
Mr. Rogers used to incite derisive laughter amongst the folks I most often hung out with. Truth be told, I have never seen his show…ever. Too bad. I think he was a kind person, just kind of a nerd, so he was not going to be someone I would watch on television.
I am sure I missed a lot of wisdom and kind-hearted information. My loss. I love this quote, because we can all recognize those qualities in each other, when we are looking for the love-liness that lies within each of us.
It takes a loving heart to see the good in each other. When Ego/Fear is looking, we see only the things that are not as we believe they should be. Hate is NOT the opposite of love…fear is. We have heard that, and I, for one, have lived it.
The most wicked among us have deep wells of kindness and love inside. We all do. There is no one on this planet who is devoid of these qualities.
Today, let’s all look at each other with the lens of love and gentleness and kindness. Let’s appreciate each other a bit more than we might have without being reminded that this is what we wish to receive. As with all other spiritual practices, we only get what we first learn to give.
This Universe is built on that principle. We give and THEN we receive. Not the other way around . What we put out to others becomes our next gift. So, we must learn to walk this planet doing what we want to have done to us. Every spiritual tradition in the world so far has taught this.
It is a great quote, and one which we can all strive to achieve. I believe in the magical healing properties of a loving heart. Mine, yours, yours, yours, and yours.
When we do this, we are healers, instead of scared little kids hitting out at everything around us and running to hide from the bogey-man. There is no bogey-man, just our Ego telling us so. Love…isn’t this wonderful?
