GRATITUDE MONTH: DAY 28: “It’s really hard to be angry when you’re grateful.” ― Freequill
It isn’t hard, I believe it is impossible. Some people will talk about how grateful they are…then…cut it off with a tirade about…blah, blah, blah. Or wah, wah, wah…whichever they are into.
That is NOT gratitude. That is mouthing shit that is not sincere or authentic. True gratitude does not leave room for anything other than awe and joy at the wonderful workings of the Universal Power in life around us.
It is really not a construct that allows any Ego into the conversation. We are masters of deluding ourselves into a lot of crap. We imagine things that are not happening, which is usually the creator of anger and fear. These cannot abide in tandem with Gratitude.
Gratitude is a humbling of the Ego…a smashing of the Ego, which is why it cannot live next to it. We are humbled when we see the hand of the Universal Power weaving the threads of everything that surrounds us. We are in awe and joy that we are able to see and experience the miracles that are NOT of our own creation.
It is why there is so much that gets wiped out by the Universal Power that IS of our creation. Some of us are lucky enough to lose material wealth and property, because it was gathered or accumulated in ways that are not of the spirit. When done in greed, fear, and other Ego-based ways, it is always subject to removal.
However, I have seen that there is always an opportunity for the cycles of life to turn all of that into even greater blessings. These things ebb and flow, just like all the other cycles of life. When we can sit with the cycles of change that are not of our creation, we get to be grateful for the knowledge that all of it is out of our control. It only works out when we can allow the Universe to create at its own pace and in its own time. This means we have to let go of outcomes, even when we are sure we know what they are.
Most of us are angry because we have remained in some semblance of control of our lives. If you are not in Acceptance of ALL of it, you are probably angry. That will be an ugly surrender at some point, because you are living in delusion again. We don’t get to have a great deal of say in these things. Thank God! Our lives are none of our business. When we thought they were, we did a terrible job of it.
Today, we get to do what we want, but we also don’t get to have the final say on a lot of it. And that is half the adventure, half the fun, when I realize the gifts in letting Universal Power take over and I just get on board for the ride…one more day…what a gift!
