GRATITUDE MONTH: DAY 27: “You can’t fix everything. Not even close. But you can look for reasons to be grateful. More than that, you can work to create them.” ― Katherine Center
When I am mindful and paying attention, I am able to see how those things that I am grateful for can expand and grow.
I once decided to find all of the things that happen in the world without my participation in creating them. It was HUGE! Like, my heart beats without my telling it to. My body responds in wonderous ways to accommodate my needs a million times a minute, to heat, to cold, to food, to pain, to pleasure and sensation, to sound…omg! The list is endless! And I totally take these things for granted.
Then, to my surroundings, the sun comes up, the sun goes down…in between, it moves across the sky…I know this is simplistic, but it is also magnificent!
The moon’s changing phases control the water of the entire planet! Think about that! WOW! And I am an ocean lover, so I get all kinds of benefits from the high and low tides, the ebb and flow of the energy of The Universe right there!
Trees grow and die and are born anew without my intervention, although I do work to create the right kinds of trees in various settings. There are also thousands of trees and they grow from different types of seeds or corms or nuts, depending on the tree. It has taken me many years to understand this, so how cool that it all just happens about a million times over as I live these years. WOW!
I am grateful for ALL of this. It is done for me, by a magnificent entity that must love me tremendously to allow me to live in this amazing Garden of Eden. It is so beautiful and so magnificent that I do not understand why others are so lazy about regenerating and loving and revering her. But I do, and that is all I can control for.
And I can LOVE that I am visited by a bald eagle, and an abundance of wild life all around me, where ever I have lived and travelled, but most of all where I am today. I can see whales fairly frequently and dolphins, and so many kinds of birds it blows me away, and sea otters and so many other wonderous creatures, all of them bringing me joy and love and hope.
I am grateful for this evidence of a Creator whose work is amazing. And that I have learned to pay attention for some moments each day to love and honor and thank that entity for doing all of this in my behalf. I am so incredibly grateful for every flower, tree, animal, bird, fish, drop of water and how incredibly wonderful it all is falling into place in my life today. I love the miracles of life and death and in-between. What a great life it is!
