HONESTY MONTH: DAY 22: “The truth is everything in the end. It is the greatest power in the world to make all people equal. If everyone knows what the truth is, no one can use lies to separate those people and turn them against one another.”― Mel Odom

This, for me, is a very timely quote. I love the idea of ALL of us being in the same frame of mind, open and honest. There is no agenda when that happens. No misunderstanding, no Ego defenses.

Wouldn’t that be lovely? If I can dream, which I can (and do!), it is of this. A place where we all get along and work only toward healing all misunderstandings and harm. For each other, for the planet, for the Universe.

And to work only toward the good for all of us, connecting with each other, as I believe we are created. I know this is very Pollyanna-ish, but I am good with that.

Today is Earth Day. I consider this blue ball to be my mother. For many years, she is the only Higher Power I could relate with. I do not believe we can heal ourselves apart from her. Nor can we heal our selves apart from her. If you and I must heal and recover, it is only when we align with our larger purpose to heal together, in community and spirit with everyone, and with this planet.

All the animals, all the trees, all the rivers and oceans and people are in need of healing. This is the goal, I believe, to a spiritual life.

I do not resonate with those who say they are walking a path to a Higher Being and NOT honoring all forms of life, all created by that same Being. We ARE all equal. We ARE all connected. How can we not know this and walk this and live this?

I am a therapist and counselor with long-term recovery from addictions and personal trauma. My writing reflects these experiences and the road I have traveled in 12-Step recovery settings, along with the work I have done for over 30 years in the field. My love of dolphins includes the stories of them being healers in places all over the world. I long to offer every broken spirit and body the experience of a healing hug. May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
