I can always tell who does and who does not have a true gratitude practice. It shows. In all we say and do. I am a chronic whiner, brought up by a chronic whiner, to be a lifetime chronic whiner.
It is the very nature of addiction that we be chronic malcontents, as the BB states. No matter what we get or have, it does not satisfy for even a second. We are so in the grip of Ego that all we can do is look for MORE of everything. And constantly comparing mine with yours. Ugh!
Gratitude gives me faith because it takes me out of Ego. Period. Gratitude gives me hope for the same reason and in the same way. Gratitude allows me to LOVE my life…every day, all day long, no matter what is coming.
I love the last line of this quote because I see so many so-called recovering people limping horribly…still using the crutch of Ego and wondering what happened to Happy, Joyous, and Free! Teehee…I know!
