PATIENCE MONTH: DAY 26: “Patience is a form of wisdom. It demonstrates that we understand and accept the fact that sometimes things must unfold in their own time.” ― Jon Kabat-Zinn
Being in this moment only is the greatest challenge of everyone in our culture. We are taught to plan, to arrange, to focus on results, to strive, all of these things. And none of them can be done for this moment only.
It is the Egoic nature of our culture, which is why addiction is so vastly permeating everything Western culture has going on. We are over-achievers, running around 10,000 miles an hour, doing it all, having it all, being it all.
And we are dying from lifestyle-caused diseases: heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, stroke, and cancers of various types. All of these are causally-linked to lifestyle choices. We are meant to live in balanced ways, doing a days’ work, then spending another big portion of that day in rest and enjoyment of the fruits of that labor.
We may be living longer lives, but how much of that time is spent with health problems that make it completely unenjoyable? A great deal. Very few of us are maximizing that time, long-term, without medications and working to overcome the stress we create for ourselves with mindset issues.
Mindset issues are those that foster and feed addiction. All of them are ego-based. All of them are living in the past or the future, running the world and not seeing that we are dying from this kind of lifestyle and thinking.
And it does nothing. We go nowhere. It is all an illusion and delusion, keeping us chronically dissatisfied and angry. We are the perpetuators of our own most horrible abuse.
These are the things we can learn to live without. They do us no good. They feed nothing but our discomfort, ill health and unhappiness. There is no joy in this lifestyle. Nothing that feeds the spirit. And yet, most of us cannot stop long enough to look around and love what life is bringing into the picture. We cannot take the time to go for a nice walk in nature, being so “busy.”
And what are we actually doing? Very little, usually talking about what we have to do or thinking about it. Very seldom actually doing anything. Life like this is deadly and full of misery and sickness. It is only our beliefs that create this. None of it is real. There is no such thing as “busy-ness” in the world, except that which we create from thin air. Time is a human construct. It does not exist in the world of spirit or in the Universe, anywhere. We make all this shit up…and it is killing us. What a sad lot we can be!
