HOPE MONTH: DAY 2: “That hope would be a small, yet vital flame that warmed them to their core– a tiny flame to cup one’s hands around and protect from the wind, a flame that the violent winds of reality might easily extinguish.” ― Haruki Murakami
We may not even feel the spark of hope sometimes, it is buried under all the crap our egos pile on top of spirit. It is from others who believe that we can succeed that it gets rejuvenated and restored.
However, we must understand that the ONLY success we can achieve in this thing is to be 100% human, therefore fallible and wonderfully flawed.
We can only hope that we are successful, TODAY, in staying away from the toxic beliefs we have accumulated over the course of a lifetime. That we can be restored to sanity TODAY. That we can align our ideas and thoughts with the Power of this Universe and recognize that we are NOT in charge, that the Universe will NOT be in alignment with us.
This is so challenging when the Purple monkeys are screaming. We really want to listen to their wisdom and dance to their music. (That, by the way, IS the insanity. Drugs and alcohol are NOT the insanity-listening to the monkeys IS.)
We are hardwired, in the beautiful design created NOT by us, to survive. It is our most vital instinct. Even when we think about suicide, it is not going to happen most of the time, because we are NOT in charge. It is not up to us. When it does succeed, it is because it is the will of that Power, not the person who dies.
This is another important concept for us to remember. What is ironic, is that we follow a daily path of self-destruction and do not see the suicide wish that is active and chronic addiction and the thinking that drives THAT bus. It is total self-annihilation with a story. OH!
And the story is usually all about how that daily path of suicide is YOUR fault. Hahaha…we are so damned nuts!
So, restoring US to sanity is a huge leap. A huge and miraculous leap. We just don’t always get to see the enormity of the miracle being performed. Because we are still listening to the damned monkeys and dancing with them all over town. Stop it! It ain’t our dance. We have been restored and can claim the removal of all monkey shit, if we only remember that it is the gift of grace we are receiving every single day. Isn’t that wonderful????
