PATIENCE MONTH: DAY 29: “Be patient when you have nothing, be polite when you have everything.”― Amit Kalantri
It would be nice if we did both when we have nothing or everything or something. That is the goal, isn’t it? Quiet acceptance of life is my goal. To be content with whatever IS can be the most attractive trait a person possesses.
I have met a few folks who had NO complaints about life on life’s terms. Their peaceful acceptance of things that were less than what they wanted or believed they needed in every situation was something of a marvel to me.
Being a “chronic malcontent” as stated in the BB, I see where acceptance, gratitude and patience are the antidotes to a good life and a happy life. It is NOT about getting what I want, but about being content with what IS. Not too many of us can do this, but I sure do admire those who can. They have truly mastered the spiritual principles of these steps. And THAT is what recovery is all about.
It ain’t ever going to be about abstinence from drugs and alcohol. It is ALWAYS going to be about a happy, quiet, and peaceful life walking on this spiritual path; thinking of others more often than ourselves. Doing what is right without telling anyone about it. And being at peace with all of life; no agendas, no arguments, no whining. What a great place to get to!
