HOPE MONTH: DAY 26: “Maybe I hope too much. Maybe I dream too much or maybe I love too much to just give up…”― robert m drake

I am a true believer in the strength of the human spirit. We all know stories of incredible human courage and resilience in the face of horrible circumstances. Poverty, war, severe trauma unlike any most of us can even begin to consider possible.

I love doing what I do in this world. Love it. I get to be with people whose courage is immense. Who come to me for that spark of belief in their capabilities that pushes them to go on, to achieve, to overcome and conquer their former beliefs and lives. This is a great way of life. I got it from working so long in recovery settings and with those who had BIG hurdles to get past.

And we succeed. And we build on these successes with all we have, every day, all day long. That is the source of the hope in my life. Watching where we begin and what we can do from there if we put in the work. Most don’t.

But those few who do are the greatest miracles. I get to mentor, sponsor, and work with amazing people. They inspire me and I get to, in turn, inspire them when they forget how strong and capable they are. All gifts from a Universal Power that is always on our side…always…always…without end.

I am a therapist and counselor with long-term recovery from addictions and personal trauma. My writing reflects these experiences and the road I have traveled in 12-Step recovery settings, along with the work I have done for over 30 years in the field. My love of dolphins includes the stories of them being healers in places all over the world. I long to offer every broken spirit and body the experience of a healing hug. May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
