HOPE MONTH: DAY 9: “We’re here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.”― Whoopi Goldberg

Love this quote…I really love Whoopi. I would love to have tea and a very long conversation with her. It seems like she would be an interesting and fun person to hang with. They are inspiring, in my book. And she seems to laugh a lot, which I really enjoy.

I truly believe this IS my reason. I don’t know if everyone is here for that, but I have always known I was born to teach…Wolf medicine…even before I went to school I would be the teacher when we played as kids. Very bossy too…nothing changed there.

But I love the phrase “throw little torches out”. That sounds nice. We are all in need of torches along our journey. And life can feel very dark sometimes.

There have been torch-bearers all along my journey since coming into this thing. Sometimes they were specific people I chose as sponsors; other times they were newcomers who surprisingly said just the right thing in a group or meeting; you never know where the best inspiration may be found. I am always grateful for the message when I hear it.

Most often, I have been inspired and felt comforted by those who know me well. They understand what it is that I have experienced and are conversive with my issues and feelings around some big parts of my life.

We all have something to share with another. The important part is just to share it. And then back off. I am not here to run lives. Nor do I want all that responsibility for carrying another person’s load. I have my own. We get to do this walk together. Side by side, hopefully drinking some nice tea. That makes me happy.

May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
