FAITH MONTH: DAY 22: “True faith manifests itself through our actions.”― Francis Chan
I cannot tell you about my faith if I am living in fear all the time. Acting with faith means stepping out in life as if I cannot fail. There truly IS no such thing as failure anyway.
What we call failure is purely that our desires are not met in the ways we believe they should be. Not failure at all. It means we are desiring our will in outcomes and the will of the Creator supersedes that. I just typed that word 3 times, because I “failed” to know that it was spelled with an s instead of a c. Hahaha.
We must continuously believe in the Power that allows us to continue breathing air each day. Not all of us are going to live through this day. I don’t know if the current flu virus will do us in or a gunshot or a car accident, but we are not given any certainty of life beyond this moment. However, we continue to live as if we had a span of time that we are sure is there for us.
Today we act in faith by getting out of bed, and, hopefully, doing something we have never done before. Learning a new skill or taking an action on behalf of someone else. Being free of Self and Ego, we can be there for another human being. Listening instead of speaking, learning instead of knowing everything, acting as if we CAN make a difference. Find a small act of service and perform it.
Reaching out to a lonely person in a hospital and reading to them, even if it is over the phone; writing a letter to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, writing an apology or thank you to someone. There are so many acts of kindness we can perform, not only to family members, but to strangers everywhere who are shut in at this time. Walk around your neighborhood and pick up trash. Clean out the gutters for a neighbor who doesn’t have a ladder.
Leave anonymous money in small denominations in the mailbox of a family who is out of work and has children at home. Coloring books and games can be donated to them as well. Finding ways to be kind to others who have less than we do is a huge act of faith. It shows the world that we are not fearfully grasping and hoarding what we have and letting others go without. That kind of fear is the ugliest one of all…nothing but the ugliest of Ego in action. Let it all go. Universe is provider, not the banks or the stock market or our jobs. There is enough. Learn to share…that is the face of true faith.
