GRATITUDE MONTH: DAY 29: “Great things happen to those who don’t stop believing, trying, learning, and being grateful.”― Roy T. Bennett

I am so late writing today. At some point, I often just think…”ah…never mind.” Today is so close to the end of the month though that I felt like I really wanted to write no matter how late. Especially this month. There is so much to be grateful for. Just this one week, my life has been amazing!

SO many things to be grateful for that I can write for hours in the morning! I don’t just believe that great things happen to those who do the stuff listed above. I believe great things happen to EVERYONE, but not everyone is paying attention or remembers to be grateful. That is the sad part.

We are just more aware of the beautiful and great things that happen if we are the type of person who is still believing, trying, learning and being grateful.

There is a magnetic effect in the Universe to those who are happy and grateful for everything. We get so focused on the good that it just keeps flowing. As long as we are doing the right thing and being the right kind of person, I believe that good will flow more quickly and beautifully to us. When we forget to be grateful and begin to take life for granted, we are reminded many times.

I have seen this too. Many of the small things for which I am grateful may not be appreciated  by those who have too much. They are not in tune with the nature of life and how that works. They may have great resources and believe that it is all for sale at the right price. That is a sad existence, because they never trust that the Source is what I know it to be.

Anyway, I am grateful for my life and my recovery and these beautiful Steps and the way they manifested everything that has come into and gone out of my life today. Every single thing. It all has a lesson and a gift for me.

Writing this has increased my awareness of and appreciation for more of my life than I felt when I began to write. Writing about gratitude is the most amazing experience! No matter how busy my day, if I do it more than once, I feel even better than I did before I began to write. What a great tool this is!

I am a therapist and counselor with long-term recovery from addictions and personal trauma. My writing reflects these experiences and the road I have traveled in 12-Step recovery settings, along with the work I have done for over 30 years in the field. My love of dolphins includes the stories of them being healers in places all over the world. I long to offer every broken spirit and body the experience of a healing hug. May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
