FAITH MONTH: DAY 10: “When God is going to do something wonderful, He or She always starts with a hardship; when God is going to do something amazing, He or She starts with an impossibility. ” ― Anne Lamott
Just as the seasons of this planet, along with all the others, revolving around the Sun and the Moon and the changing of seasons from hot to cold and back again, our lives do this as well.
There are times of sadness and happiness, times of wealth and poverty, whether they be emotional, spiritual or financial, and times that we feel abandoned and then on top of the heap. There is an ebb and flow to all of life and our part(s) in it.
I have been too busy or not busy enough, had too many friends or not enough, all of life has its times of wealth and famine. I see it in everything created by that Power.
When we come out of the darkness and cold of winter, Spring is a promise of new life to most of us. Birds and other creatures are mating and bearing their young, flowers and trees are coming to life, the daylight extends itself longer into the evening hours and days become noticeably longer. The Earth warms and growing seasons are more productive.
So, too, are we going through cycles of growth and development. We may believe we are static, but that is never the case. Our bodies are aging; and we may or may not be fighting that. But, there is no stopping that ebb and flow. We are gaining wisdom and losing physical abilities we may have once had. As we go through these times of drought and flood, we may see that our energies have shifted into one direction or another. Life may be slowing down for us in many ways.
And we may see large shifts in every arena of life. Some of us will have expanded families as our children and grandchildren begin to grow older and birth new members. Others will experience the reality of death and diminished relationships with family members who pass on. This is life! This is what we are preparing ourselves to adapt to and move with as we recover.
Many people do not know how to accept these shifts and changes. They fight them and become bitter, angry and resentful. That is not what we are here to do. We are here to learn to shift and accommodate and allow these changes. They ARE going to happen, and we are here to gain the wisdom of acceptance and allowing life.
New ideas are around us all the time. To shut off from that kind of energy is to shut ourselves off from life itself. We have learned to open ourselves to new ideas, new ways of doing things, and new opportunities to create. That is all we are here to learn. Wisdom takes all of this into account and allows us to move into these new paradigms with grace. Fighting and resistance will create emotional, spiritual and physical pain in our hearts and eventually our bodies. From this pain we may emerge into a new time of life that is far grander than anything that has come before, mostly because of what was learned in the painful times.
