GRATITUDE MONTH: DAY 22: “Each day brings new opportunities, allowing you to constantly live with love—be there for others—bring a little light into someone’s day. Be grateful and live each day to the fullest.” ― Roy Bennett

What did you do today to bring  a little light and love into another person’s day? We are all given this chance…a random hug, a laugh, a gift of thoughtful presence…these can make another person happy to know you and be with you at any time.

We are here to do this for one another. If you tell me you are grateful, these acts of kindness and awareness are the ways I come to believe you. Gratitude is what we wear when we walk out our doors and into the world.

It is not about what YOU get, it is all about what YOU give. Gratitude speaks loudest in those acts of being mindful and present to the people who surround you each moment. They are ambassadors of the Universe, sent to you for that practice of joy and love and hope.

Be that gratitude by walking out your door to embrace them all with love and presence. We don’t always know how to be kind and present to others when we are riddled with self-centered fear. I believe we are here to learn how to walk away from that Ego-base into the Love-base that is residing within the confines of our hearts and spirits.

Today is a great day for practicing mindful kindness…just because we are all given so much more than we ever did anything to deserve. Grace, walk in grace and give, because you are already receiving…isn’t that the point?

Be the star of someone else’s gratitude list today. Just because…you can…I can…we all can. Peace and love and mindfulness to you and your beloveds today…because we can!

I am a therapist and counselor with long-term recovery from addictions and personal trauma. My writing reflects these experiences and the road I have traveled in 12-Step recovery settings, along with the work I have done for over 30 years in the field. My love of dolphins includes the stories of them being healers in places all over the world. I long to offer every broken spirit and body the experience of a healing hug. May my words and stories inform, uplift and delight your spirit and soothe your weary heart.
